General Budget Tips Be prepared.
The phrase most heard when refurbishing
is: "It cost twice as much as
I thought it would." Set yourself
a budget and build in some contingency
funding - 15 per cent of the total cost
is a good guideline.
Be sure you know what
you're in for before you start. Everyone
hates a job that drags on and on when
you thought you could be done in a day.
But be realistic,
remember that by adding little jobs here
and there the project could go on for
a few more days and add extra costs.
Decide exactly what work you want to undertake
before asking for any estimates or quotations.
Write a clear specification; it need not
be technical, but it should detail the
work you want to carry out.
